8'th - Helio "Soneca" Moreira
Seminar! |
|
Helio Moreira will be returning to AUMA on
Saturday, September 8th, 2007 for a full
day of seminars!
Be sure you sign
up early to save your space. Both
children and adult sessions will be
offered at a special discount price for
our students.
One morning session
for Children, and an early afternoon
session for Adults.
Helio Moreira is
flying in from Brazil especially for
these seminars and you won't be able to
train with him anywhere else but here at
AUMA! Call or stop by to reserve
your place now!
Helio Moreira started practicing
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 8 with
Black Belt master Cirilo Azevedo. Having
fallen in love with this Martial Art at
the age of 9, he was already a Brazilian
Champion. At the age of 13, Helio moved
to Rio De Janeiro and started to
practice with the Gracie Club, now known
as Barra Gracie, taught by the Machado
Brothers, Ze Henrique Leao Teixeira and
Renzo Gracie. Soneca, as he is known in
the Martial Arts world, chose Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu as his career totally
dedicating himself to it. At the age of
22, he received from Master Carlos
Gracie JR., the Black Belt he had been
dreaming of; a prestige that few people
had at that time.
Soneca is currently a 4th Dan and known
as one of the best fighters and Masters
in the world. He is also one of the
founders of Gracie Barra, currently the
best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the world.
Soneca is currently participating in
seminars throughout the U.S. and around
the world. Soneca has associations in
Brazil, Thailand and Japan, is President
of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation of the state
of Parana-Brasil (FJJP), and is Vice
President and founder of the Federation
of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the state of
Tennessee, USA (TBJJF).

AUMA sponsored an end-of-summer carnival! |
|
AUMA hosted a great end-of-summer
carnival for all members and their
friends. Activities included a
Bungie Run, Disco Room, carnival games
and activities, board breaking, as well
as some great prizes!

We are UMAHOF School of the Year! |

On
July 7, 2007 in Houston, the Universal
Martial Arts Hall of Fame formally
recognized and awarded our school, The
Academy of Universal Martial Arts, as
School of the Year!
This is an
incredible honor - and all of us -
students, instructors, parents &
supporters - are to be congratulated!

Master Juarez and Darren
Lillian, Jiu Jitsu instructor
were both on 96.7 Kiss FM
Thursday, April 26'th on the
Bobby Bones Show as boxing
coaches for radio personality
Lunch Box. They both worked
with him for a total of 4 days
for this match against Carlos
(Bobby Bones Show Producer). To

They both had a lot of fun
working with Lunchbox and hope
to see him around the gym even
more in the near future. So
watch the video and have a great
time.

An entire month of summer camps is
planned at AUMA this summer!

Extreme Bo Camp
- June 4'th - 8'th

Camp - June 18'th - 22'nd

Extreme Nunchaku
Camp - June 25'th - 29'th
Each camp is
scheduled from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm each
day. The camps are $149 each, but if you
schedule all four, then the 4'th one is
FREE! |

New Construction!
|
|
The construction at
AUMA is nearing completion. The
2'nd training room is finished (with
Surround-Sound Stereo!) and already in
full use! The surprise 3'rd
training room will be completed shortly!
This new room is designed for private
lessons and one-on-one work.
We now are able to
hold multiple large classes
simultaneously and provide great
flexibility to the scheduling of
terrific new events and classes!
